MDA Fundraiser Is A Success The members of Fort Thomas Fire Fighters Local 1928 annually look for ways to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The MDA has an international affiliation with the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) of which Local 1928 is a member. In 2008, the IAFF collectively contributed over $27 million to the MDA's fight against neuromuscular disease and the members of Local 1928 feel they need to do their part to contribute to that amazing effort. On December 27, 2008 the Fort Thomas Fire Fighters had an opportunity to hold a Guest Bartender Night at the 915 Bar & Grill in Fort Thomas. John Taylor, owner of the 915 Bar & Grill, welcomed the Fire Fighters in their efforts to raise funds for the MDA and was very generous with his support. Fire Fighters served drinks at the bar for tips, as well as held a silent auction, split-the-pot and gave away door prizes at the event. The night was a huge success with the total funds raised a little over $2100.00. The goal of the Fire Fighters with this event was to raise enough money to send at least two children with neuromuscular disease to the local MDA Summer Camp in Hamilton, OH. However, with the funds raised as a result of their efforts, the Fort Thomas Fire Fighters contributed enough money to send at least three children to the week-long camp. Fort Thomas Fire Fighters Local 1928 would like thank the 915 Bar & Grill and its patrons, as well as all the silent auction item sponsors for their support of this charitable event. What is MDA? What do your donations Buy?
2007-Jerry Lewis celebrates a record $63.8 million in pledges and contributions to his 42nd annual MDA Labor Day Telethon.

This
program was started by the Fort Thomas Recreation Department and is
sponsored by the Fort Thomas Business Association. The program has now
partnered up with the Fort Thomas Fire Fighters Local 1928 and the
Northern Kentucky Health Department. These organizations recognize the
importance of physical activity. By joining efforts we hope to do our
piece in reducing obesity, overweight and inactivity. We wish to serve our
citizens better by giving them tools to start or maintain a physically
active lifestyle. This
booklet will provide you with a guide to walking, running and biking
routes in Fort Thomas. These routes will take you throughout the city and
into our parks. After each route there are pictures of different landmarks
that you will pass. These pictures range in dates so you can see how much
Fort Thomas has changed. Download this PDF file, which is ready to print and assemble into a book. |
